BLOOMINGTON, IN – The University of Iowa women’s golf team shot a 54-hole total of 932 to finish in an impressive fourth place in the highly competitive 15-team Indiana Invitational. Missouri took the team title after posting an exceptional final round total of 296 to finish the tournament with 908 strokes.
Leading the way for the Hawkeyes was junior Liz Bennett. Bennett fired a three-round total of 227, which tied her for sixth. Senior Jennifer Reints shot a 238 to tie for 27th. One shot behind Reints’ 328 was fellow senior Laura Holmes. Holmes finished tied for 31st. Junior Shannon Fleming tied for 41st with a 54-hole total of 242. Freshmen Virginie Bonfils and Amy Riepma both shot 245 tying them for 48th.
Indiana’s Karen Dennison took the individual title after posting back-to-back rounds of three-under par (71). Dennsion totaled 218 strokes over three rounds, which was five strokes ahead of the second place finishers.
The Hawkeyes will continue competition in the Lady Boilermaker Invitational in West Lafayette, IN on April 17-18.
