Hawkeyes Down Indiana, 6-0

April 9, 2004

Box Score

BLOOMINGTON, IN – The University of Iowa softball team won its fifth-consecutive Big Ten game with a 6-0 shutout of the Indiana Hoosiers Friday in Bloomington. Iowa improves its overall record to 24-15. Indiana falls to 23-20, 0-3 in the Big Ten.

The Hawkeyes were very economical in their win, getting six runs on just six hits. Kylie Murray was 1-for-4 with her third home run of the season. It was her second-straight game with a dinger.

Iowa jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first and never looked back. The Hawkeyes added two in the second and another insurance run in the top of the third.

Junior hurler Lisa Birocci went the distance for Iowa, allowing only four hits and striking out six.

Iowa and Indiana will play again tomorrow at Noon.
