The Iowa women’s tennis team completed the third and final day of the Furman Fall Classic, winning three more singles matches. Overall, the Hawkeyes won 13 matches at the tournament.
Anastasia Zhukova placed third in flight three singles, defeating South Carolina’s Miranda Gutierrez, 6-3, 6-4. Freshman Milica Veselinovic also finished third, in flight four singles, after winning against Iaona Paun of Clemson, 7-5, 6-1. In flight six singles, Morgan Tuttle notched a win against Claudia Szabo of Middle Tennessee State, 6-3, 6-1, to place fifth. Hilary Tyler lost two close sets to Fallon Koon of South Carolina, 7-6 (2), 7-5, finishing fourth in flight five singles. Meg Racette and Hillary Mintz both lost their singles matches today, placing sixth in flight one and two singles, respectively.
The Hawkeyes will compete next when they travel to the Indiana Invitational October 8-10.
