Iowa Finishes 12th at Lady Razorback Invite

ROGERS, AR – – The University of Iowa women’s golf team finished in 12th place in the 54-hole Lady Razorback Invitational played today on the par-72 Pinnacle Golf Course. The Hawkeyes started today’s final round four strokes behind Western Michigan, but carded a 313 to help Iowa (952) finish ahead of Western Michigan (953). Intra-state rival Iowa State (905) won the tournament by 11 strokes over second place Texas A&M (916). The Cyclones’ Lisa Meshke was the individual medalist, shooting a one-under par 215 (70-70-75).

Senior Liz Bennett (Sway Hampshire, England) stroked a 54-hole score of 229 (75-77-77) to finish in a tie for 12th place. Freshman Jill Marcum (Clarinda, IA) had one of her best collegiate tournaments. Marcum started today’s final round in 60th place, but after shooting a career best 18-hole score 76, she finished in a tie for 44th (79-83-76). Furthermore, Marcum sank the tournament’s only hole-in-one, which came on the 173-yard 17th hole today. Freshman Maggie Gelber (Winnetka, IL) tied for 52nd after firing a 240 (85-76-79). Sophomore Amy Riepma (Clear Lake, IA) tied for 78th (80-86-81), while freshman Melanie Boyles (Tempe, AZ) finished 99th (83-90-90).

The Lady Razorback Invitational was the final event of the fall for Iowa.
