The 44th-ranked Iowa women’s tennis team emerged victorious against the 68th-ranked Washington State Cougars, 4-3. The Hawkeyes move to 2-2 overall.
With the Hawkeyes and Cougars tied, 3-3, the meet came down to Milica Veselinovic and Nora Gaal at the No. 4 position, where the meet was determined in the third set. Veselinovic won the match, blanking her opponent in the third set, to give the Hawkeyes the win.
The Hawkeyes lost the doubles point, with only Hilary Tyler and Morgan Tuttle winning their doubles match, 8-1, against Orsolya Sallai and Aleksandra Stefanova. In singles, Jacqueline Lee dominated Stefanova, winning 6-0, 6-0. Anastasia Zhukova followed similar suit, emerging victorious from her match at the No. 3 position, 6-1, 6-1, against Chris Martinez. At the No. 2 spot, Hillary Mintz defeated Orsolya Sallai, 6-1, 6-2. Mintz has yet to lose a singles match this season.
The Hawkeyes will next compete Friday, February 18 at Marquette.
