The University of Iowa women’s swimming and diving team remained in seventh place after the second day of competition at the 2005 Big Ten Championships. The Hawkeyes tallied 91 points through seven events.
Hawkeye senior Jennifer Skolaski qualified for the finals in the 200 IM with a personal and Iowa season-best time of 2:03.97. The mark also provisionally qualified her for the NCAA Championships, as it met the B-standard time. In the finals, Skolaski swam a 2:04.04 for eighth place.
Senior Lisette Planken was the lone Hawkeye diver to qualify for the finals, where she took fourth with 312.4 points.
The 200-yard free relay comprised of Abby VanMaaren, Katie Martin, Karen Kelly and Katie Haeger took 10th with a season-best time of 1:34.08.
Iowa will continue competition at the Big Ten Championships on Friday. Preliminary heats of the 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 free, 100 breast and 100 back start at 11 a.m. inside the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center. Live results are available at www.bigten.org.
