MINNEAPOLIS, MN –
The University of Iowa men’s swimming team finished the 2005 Big Ten Championships in 10th place with a score of 104. The host team Minnesota won the competition with a score of 720.
Six Hawkeyes advanced to the finals in the last day of competition. Iowa was led by freshman Nate Keeling who finished 14th in the 200 butterfly. Keeling’s time of 1:50.77 in the finals was a new career best. Sophomore Paul Divan recorded a 16th place finish for the Hawkeyes in the 200 breaststroke. Divan’s time of 2:04.82 in the finals set a new career mark. Senior Elliot Ptasnik set a new personal best as well as a season best time for the Hawkeyes in the 200 breaststroke. Ptasnik recorded a time of 2:02.87 in the finals which led him to a 20th place finish in the finals.
