WEST LAFAYETTE, IN — University of Iowa diver Nancilea Underwood finished in sixth place on the one-meter board Saturday afternoon at the NCAA Zone C qualifying meet. The competition was held at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center in West Lafayette, IN.
Underwood tallied a score of 544.15 over 12 dives. Senior Lisette Planken competed for the Hawkeyes on one-meter, but did not place. Underwood and Planken both will have to wait until the conclusion of tomorrow’s platform diving competition to know whether they have secured a spot in the NCAA Championships.
Underwood has already clinched a spot at NCAAs on three-meter, as she took first in the event on Friday afternoon. With a fifth-place finish Friday, Planken could potentially represent Iowa at the NCAAs on three-meter as well.
The University of Iowa women’s swimming and diving team will travel to the NCAA Championships on March 17-19 in West Lafayette, IN. Senior Jennifer Skolaski will represent the Hawkeyes in the 200 IM, 100 back and 200 back, while Underwood will partake in the three-meter diving event.
