Iowa Places Seventh At Peggy Kirk Bell Invite

WINTER SPRINGS, FL – – The University of Iowa women’s golf team tied for seventh in the 54-hole Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational played Monday and Tuesday at the par-72 Tuscawilla Golf and Country Club. Both Iowa and Yale finished with a final score of 953. Host school Rollins College (901) won the tournament by 22 strokes over second place UNC-Greensboro (923).

Liz Bennett (Sway Hampshire, England) carded the lowest 18-hole score Tuesday, shooting an even-par 72. The senior finished the tournament in fifth place (78-77-72). Sophomore Karla Murra (Sioux Falls, SD) finished tied for 41st after stroking a 243 (81-79-83). Sophomore Amy Riepma (Clear Lake, IA), who did not finish the second round due to injury, carded a 79 in round one and an 81 in round three, but did not place. Florida Southern’s Pamela Feggans was the individual medalist, firing a four-over par 220 (74-73-73).

The Hawkeyes return to action Thursday and Friday when Iowa competes in the 36-hole Snowbird Intercollegiate in Tampa, FL.
