Iowa Takes Down Michigan In Overtime, 74-72

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) -- Greg Brunner scored 24 points and Adam Haluska added 17 Saturday to lift Iowa to a 74-72 overtime victory over Michigan in the regular season finale for both teams.

Jeff Horner also had 15 points for the Hawkeyes (19-10, 7-9 Big Ten), who won their third straight. Dion Harris scored a career-high 25 points, and Brent Petway added a career-high 16 for the Wolverines (13-17, 4-12 Big Ten), who have lost 12 of their last 13 games.

Iowa outscored Michigan 7-3 at the start of overtime to take a 70-66 lead with 62 seconds remaining.

Graham Brown made a layup to cut it to 70-68, but Horner hit two free throws with 21 seconds to go to give the Hawkeyes a 72-68 edge. Petway tapped in a rebound with 10 seconds remaining to trim the margin to 72-70.

Mike Henderson sealed the win with a layup with 4 seconds left.

Iowa opened up the second half by scoring 10 of the first 15 points to build a 45-39 lead. Michigan helped the Hawkeyes expand their advantage with three turnovers and 2-of-7 shooting during the spurt.

Harris pulled the Wolverines even at 45 when he hit back-to-back 3-pointers.

After two more ties, Michigan took a 56-54 lead on Ron Coleman’s 3-pointer with 6:46 left.

Iowa regained the lead and built it to 61-58 with 3:21 remaining. Brown put Michigan back in front 63-61 with consecutive lay-ups and a free throw.

Haluska knotted it at 63 with a layup with 45 seconds left in regulation. Horner missed a potential game-winning 3-pointer with 1 second remaining.

Iowa used a 16-3 run to take a 28-19 lead with 6:58 left in the first half. Petway helped Michigan get back into the game, scoring eight points during a 15-4 spurt that pushed the Wolverines in front 34-32 with 1:26 remaining in the half.
