IOWA CITY – University of Iowa relief pitcher Tim Gudex was named to the 2005 American Baseball Coaches Association and Rawlings NCAA All-Mideast Region Second Team Tuesday.
Gudex, the Hawkeye closer, had an amazing season in which he was a first team all-Big Ten selection and led the conference wins (7), saves (6), ERA (1.11), appearances (19), games in relief (19), games finished (19) and opponent’s batting average (.205). He also led the conference in overall ERA at 2.56.
The Big Ten had 12 of the 26 selections on the all-Mideast Region teams, including five on the first team.
Iowa finished the season with a 28-29 record and a 19-13 mark in the Big Ten, good for third place.
