Hawkeyes Complete Day Two Of Roberta Alison Classic

TUSCALOOSA, AL – The Iowa women’s tennis team finished the second day of the Roberta Alison Fall Classic today, winning six singles matches and two doubles matches.

Milica Veselinovic, Krissy Dowlin, Kayla Berry, and Jacqueline Lee all snagged wins in singles matches. Veselinovic defeated Diana Espinal (ULM) 6-1, 7-6 and Anastasia Kugakolova (MSU) 6-3, 6-0 to win her flight. Kugakolova is ranked 89th in the country in preseason rankings.

Dowlin defeated Heather Reynolds (GSU) 6-0, 6-1 and Whitnie Warren (Sam) 6-4, 6-3 to win her consolation draw. Berry was successful against Christina Weiser (Mem) 6-3, 6-1 for a third place finish in her draw, and Lee defeated Mari Miller (UA) 4-6, 6-2, 6-0 for a successful finish in her flight.

Merel Beelen and Krissy Dowlin defeated Renee Joseph and Tatiana Feit (MSU) 9-8 to win their doubles flight and Kayla Berry teamed with Alina Mihailescu (FSU) to defeat Flavia Russo (Mem) and Marion Lehmann (USA) for the win in their doubles flight.

“The girls competed well and represented Iowa well this weekend,” Iowa Head Coach Daryl Greenan said. “Mili had a huge win over a nationally ranked competitor and Jacqueline played well and was a strong competitor in her consolation flight. Overall I am happy with the way all of the girls played.”

The Hawkeyes will continue competition October 20 when they travel to Midwest Regional competition in East Lansing, Michigan.
