ROCKFORD, IL – The University of Iowa novice rowing team competed Sunday at the Head of the Rock Regatta. The Hawkeyes preformed well on the Rock River, having three boats place in the top twenty.
The only race of the day for the Hawkeyes was the women’s novice 8 race. Iowa B placed 10th with a time of 21:10. Members of this boat were freshmen Meggie Lee, Sam Culwell, Liz Clefisch, Natalie Embach, Renee Meyer, Meaghan Casino, Patrice Hawkins, Cat Carlson and Jennifer Berge.
Following right behind Iowa B was the Iowa A boat in 11th place (21:16). Iowa D pulled out a 15th place finish with a time of 22:35. The Iowa C boat rounded out the Hawkeye squad with a 23rd place finish and a time of 25:19.
The Hawkeye varsity rowers travel to Boston, MA on October 22 to compete at the Head of the Charles Regatta. The novice rowers will compete next on October 30 at the Head of the Iowa in Iowa City.
