IOWA CITY – The University of Iowa baseball team will kick-off the 2006 season with the third annual Lead-Off Dinner Monday, February 6, at the Sheraton Hotel in downtown Iowa City. A special V.I.P. reception begins at 5:30 p.m., with the dinner and program beginning at 6:30 p.m.
The program will feature talks from Iowa Head Coach Jack Dahm and former Los Angeles Dodgers manager Tommy Lasorda. There will be silent and live auctions for sports memorabilia, including one-of-a-kind items autographed by Kerry Wood, Reggie Jackson, Kirby Puckett, Magic Johnson, Kirk Hinrich, Brett Favre, Ryan Sandberg, Tom Seaver, Bob Knight, Ozzie Smith along with many more current and former professional athletes. There will also be Hawkeye memorabilia, suites at Cedar Rapids Kernels and Iowa Cubs games and much more on the auction block.
“We are very excited to have Tommy Lasorda as our featured speaker for our third annual Lead-Off Dinner,” Dahm said. “I can’t think of a better person to get our fans and players excited about the upcoming season. Tommy is a great ambassador for the game of baseball and we are very honored to have him as our guest speaker.”
Tables of nine people can be reserved for $375. Each table includes entrance to the V.I.P. reception and a current Hawkeye player seated at the table.
Tickets for the dinner and program are $30 for adults, $15 for children 13 and under. Reserved seats are available for $50, which also includes the V.I.P reception.
