GymHawks Sign Two Recruits

Nov. 29, 2005

IOWA CITY, IA – The Iowa women’s gymnastics program has signed Katie Turcotte and Nikki Page to national letters of intent. The two will enroll at the University of Iowa next fall.

Page, a native of Coppell, TX, currently competes for Texas Dreams. She was the Region 3 Level 10 All-Around Champion in 2004 and placed 2nd at the Region 3 Level 10 competition in 2005.

“We are very excited that Nikki found an instant connection to both our team and our program,” said Head Coach Larissa Libby. “We expect that she will contribute immediately and have an instant impact in both the vault and beam line-ups.”

Nikki Page will join the Hawkeyes in the fall

Turcotte is from Temecula, CA and currently competes for SCEGA gymnastics. She was the 2003 Level 10 regional vault and floor champion, was a 2003 Level 10 Junior Olympic team national qualifier, and placed 2nd on vault, 5th on bars, and 7th in the all-around at the 2003 Level 10 Nationals.

“We feel very lucky to have signed Katie, as I think she is someone that many schools overlooked,” Libby said. “Katie is so naturally talented that coupled with her desire to be the best we know that she will bring that winning attitude to our team.”

Katie Turcotte will enroll at the University of Iowa in the fall.

“We are extremely pleased with the signing of Katie and Nikki to Iowa,” concluded Libby. “We feel like they will bring the competitive tenacity and the consistency to our line-ups that we need in order to build the future of Iowa gymnastics.”
