IOWA CITY – The University of Iowa cross country teams each had an athlete chosen to receive the Big Ten Sportsmanship Honoree Award. Senior Adam Roche represented Iowa for the men’s award and sophomore Racheal Marchand was chosen for the women’s honor.
Roche has run in all five Hawkeye competitions. His best finishes include a fourth-place finish at the Hawkeye Invitational on September 2, a 14th-place finish at the Murray Keatinge Invitational on October 1, and leading the team with a 20th-place finish at the Big Ten Championships on October 30.
Marchand has competed in all four Iowa meets this season and her best finishes were a sixth-place finish at the Hawkeye Invitational and a 22nd-place finish at the Big Ten Championships.
Both honorees will compete next when Iowa hosts the Midwest Regional Championships on November 12 at Ashton Cross Country Course.
