Grajewski Earns Big Ten Honors

March 24, 2006

IOWA CITY – University of Iowa women’s gymnastics player Liz Grajewski has been named a second team all-Big Ten gymnast. The announcement came today from the Big Ten office.

In addition to being named to the second-team all-Big Ten, Grajewski also was an honoree for the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award. This award is given to student-athletes who distinguish themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior. In addition, the athletes must be in good academic standing and demonstrate good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting.

Grajewski earned the honors after a strong senior campaign at Iowa. She posted an individual best floor exercise score of 9.9 against Iowa State, March 17th. Grajewski also earned a 38.925 high all-around score twice this season.

The Hawkeyes are ranked 34thrd in the latest rankings and will compete at the Big Ten Championships tomorrow, in East Lansing, MI. Competition is set to begin at 5 p.m. (CST).
