Fried Named Volunteer Assistant

Aug. 30, 2006

IOWA CITY – Iowa softball Head Coach Gayle Blevins has announced the addition of Jennifer Fried as a volunteer assistant coach.

Before coming to Iowa, Fried was an assistant coach at Swarthmore College in Media, PA, from 2005-06. Her duties included designing and implementing daily practices for outfielders along with batting instruction.

Fried played both softball and soccer at Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, PA. She was named the Centennial Conference Softball Player of the Year in 2004 and was an all-conference selection from 2001-04. Fried holds school records for career hits and doubles.

Fried graduated from Franklin and Marshall College in 2004 with a degree in psychology and a minor in Judaic studies. She is currently working on her masters in athletic administration at Iowa.

“We are very pleased to add Jennifer to our coaching staff,” Blevins said. “She has a great appreciation and enthusiasm for being a part of Iowa softball. It is with great pleasure that we all look forward to working together.”
