Nebraska Defeats Iowa, 1-0

Sept. 3, 2006

Box Score

Lincoln, NE – The University of Iowa women’s soccer team was defeated by Nebraska, 1-0 Sunday at the Nebraska Soccer Stadium. The Cornhuskers netted the game-winning goal in the 62nd minute.

Aysha Jamani took a cross from Brittany Timko and got by substitute goalkeeper Lindsey Boldt, who came on in the 60th minute for an injured Ali Becker, for the only goal of the contest. The Hawkeyes were outshot by Nebraska, 17-8.

Leading the way for Iowa was junior Melisa Kaetterhenry who recorded three shots. Freshman Alexandria Seydel tallied two shots while three other Hawkeyes each had one shot.

Becker and Boldt each pushed away three shots.

“Even though the end result was a loss, I think this was the best game we’ve played so far this season,” Head Coach Ron Rainey said. “We had some individual performances that we can build off of for the rest of the year. We still have a lot of games to play.”

The Hawkeyes travel to Loyola-Chicago Friday. Match time is set for 6 p.m.
