Former Iowa defensive back Kerry Burt has been selected to be Iowa’s honorary captain for Saturday’s game against Northwestern. The Hawkeyes face the Wildcats in a televised game with kickoff set for 11:10 a.m. in sold out Kinnick Stadium.
Burt, a four-year letterman (1984-87) and honorable mention all-American, earned first-team all-Big Ten honors in 1987. He helped lead Iowa and played in the Freedom, Rose and two Holiday Bowls. He served as one of the Hawkeye captains during the 1987 season.
During his four years on the playing field, Iowa had a 37-12-1 record and appeared in four consecutive bowl games. The Hawkeyes were Big Ten champions during his sophomore campaign (1985). He intercepted 10 passes during his career and was credited with 128 tackles (85 solo).
Kerry will accompany the Iowa captains to the center of the field for the pre-game coin-flip. He will also be with the Hawkeyes on the sidelines and in the locker room before and after the game.
