Hawkeyes Run Well In Ames

Ames, IA – The University of Iowa women’s track team began competition at the Cyclones Classic in Ames, Friday. Junior Diane Nukuri provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 5,000 meters with a winning time of 16:24.50. This is the second event Nukuri has provisionally qualified for this season, the other being the 3,000 meters.

Junior Kineke Alexander improved her 200 meter provisional qualifying time to 23.75. She took third place, followed by Peaches Roach finishing seventh. Senior Tiffany Johnson turned in a season-best performance in the preliminaries of the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.45, good enough for the third fastest time of the event.

The Hawkeyes continue competition Saturday, 9:30 a.m. at the Cyclones Classic in Ames, IA.
