AUBURN, AL –
The University of Iowa women’s track team competed at the Auburn Tiger Classic today. Senior Becca Franklin and sophomore Renee White grabbed the spotlight by breaking the hammer throw and triple jump school records.
Franklin placed second in the hammer throw while increasing her regional qualifying mark by five inches, with runner-up toss of 187-11. White reached the regional qualifying mark in the triple jump for the first time this season, with a first place finish with a leap of 41-3 ¾. Placing second behind White was senior Tiffany Johnson who also qualified for the regional meet, with a jump of 41-2 ¼.
Competing in the high jump for the first time this outdoor season, senior Peaches Roach took first place with regional qualifying leap of 5-8 ¾. Placing sixth, Caleigh Bacchus tied a career-best jump of 5-5.
Members of the Iowa women’s track team will compete on April 14, at the UNI Invite, in Cedar Falls, or April 13-14 at the Jacobs Collegiate Invite in Norman, OK.
