The University of Iowa men’s tennis team finished its second day of competition at the Notre Dame Invitational. The Hawkeyes claimed two singles matches and four doubles matches at the Courtney Tennis Center. Teams competing along with the Hawkeyes include Ball State, Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Purdue and Western Michigan.
Freshman Gentry Kaegi defeated Bryan Norville (WMU) 7-6 (8-6), 6-2 and junior Greg Holm defeated Alejandro Staub (WMU) 6-4, 6-2 helping Iowa claim two singles matches. Greg Holm also had a strong showing in doubles matches as he teamed up with Walker Grimes to win twice today. Holm and Grimes defeated Nick Rinks/John Stratton (MSU) 8-6 and Scott Birchmeier/Michael Calderone (WMU) 8-5. Additionally, sophomores Patrick Dwyer and Tommy McGeorge defeated Billy Gardner/Ty Sauerbrey (MSU) 8-6 and freshmen Austen Kauss and Gentry Kaegi defeated Alex Allon/Clark Richardson (MSU) 8-6.
The Hawkeyes will compete Sunday in the final day of competition at the Notre Dame Invitational.
