EAST LANSING, MI – – After 36 holes at the Mary Fossum Invitational, the Hawkeyes are sitting alone in fourth-place, only two strokes behind third-place Kent State. Michigan State is hosting the tournament on the par-72 Forest Akers West Golf Course.
Iowa’s second-round score of 295 ranks third best in school history and was the second-best team performance for a round on Saturday. The Hawkeyes finished the day at +36 and had three performers finish in the top 20.
Senior Jill Marcum ended the day seven-over-par (151), and is tied in seventh-place. Junior Tyrette Metzendorf and senior Melanie Boyles also had good rounds, tying for 11th (152) and 15th (153), respectively. Rounding out scores for the Hawkeyes, junior Becky Quinby is tied for 29th (156) and sophomore Alison Cavanaugh is tied for 53rd (164).
The competition concludes tomorrow with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
