HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, FL – The University of Iowa men’s golf team completed day one at the Wolverine Invitational in Howey-in-the-Hills, FL. The Hawkeyes recorded a 36-hole score of 602 (+26). Iowa is currently in sixth place in the 10-team field. Host-school Michigan is currently the front-runner with a 583 (+7).
Junior Cole Peevler led the Hawkeyes on Monday with the low round of the tournament. Peevler tied his career-best with a 65 (-7) during the second round. The score of 65 also ties the second-lowest 18-hole score in Iowa men’s golf history. He is tied for first with Tim Schaetzel of Michigan with a 142 (-2). Freshman Dusty Koth is tied for 29th overall with a 36-hole score of 152 (+8). In addition, senior Todd Larson is tied for 34th with a 153 (+9) and senior Adam Miller is tied for 43rd with a 155 (+11). Senior Dan Holterhaus is in 60th after recording a 164 (+20).
The Hawkeyes will conclude the fall season with 18 holes Tuesday. Iowa’s first tee time is scheduled for 8:00 a.m.
