Hawkeyes Come In Ninth At Lady Buckeye Invitational

COLUMBUS, OH – The University of Iowa women’s golf team finished in ninth place Sunday at the Lady Buckeye Invitational, shooting a 313 as a team, their lowest round of the weekend. Kent State won the Invitational by 28 strokes over second-place Ohio State.

Senior Melanie Boyles and junior Tyrette Metzendorf capped off their impressive performances this weekend and both finished tied for 18th place (234, +18). With this weekend’s performance, Metzendorf has finished in the Top 20 in eight tournaments on the season.

Junior Becky Quinby finished tied for 41st place (243, +27), while freshman Laura Cilek finished one stroke behind and tied for 46th place (244, +28). Senior Jill Marcum ended tied for 53rd place (246, +30), while freshman Brianna Coopman finished in 72nd (269, +53).

Next week, the Hawkeyes head to the Big Ten Championships, slated to be held April 24-27 on the campus of Penn State University.
