TOLUCA, MEXICO — Former University of Iowa distance runner Meghan Armstrong has won the 10,000 meters in 37:31.28 at the 2008 North America, Central America and Caribbean (NACAC) Under 23 Games in Toluca, Mexico. She was one of four competitors with University of Iowa ties at the meet last weekend.
Senior John Hickey placed second in the men’s shot put with a distance of 58-11 1/2. He was part of a United States 1-2 finish in that events as his USA teammate Ryan Whiting won the event (63-10 1/4).
Former Hawkeye Tammilee Kerr placed fourth in the heptathlon with 5,394 points, representing her home country of Jamaica. Kerr won the javelin (148-7) and 800 meters (2:27.26), and placed third in the long jump (19-6 3/4) as part of the event.
Former Hawkeye sprinter Kineke Alexander, who represented her native St. Vincent and the Grenadines, placed sixth in the 400 meters (53.22).
