Heidgerken Inducted Into Iowa High School Hall Of Fame

IOWA CITY – Former Hawkeye outfielder Mindy Heidgerken was recently inducted into the Iowa High School Hall of Fame during the Iowa Girls State Softball Tournament. Heidgerken was one of four former high school softball players inducted.

Heidgerken is from Long Grove, IA, and attended North Scott High School. She led North Scott to a state title in 2002 and runner-up finishes in 2000, 2001 and 2003. Heidgerken was named the Iowa Player of the Year, Class 3A Player of the Year, and Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year in 2003. She was a four-time all-state selection, including elite all-State in 2002 and 2003.

Heidgerken was a four-year letterwinner at Iowa from 2004-07. She started 183-straight games in center field and was a unanimous first team all-Big Ten selection as a sophomore and a third team all-Big Ten selection as a junior. Heidgerken was also an ESPN the Magazine academic all-America District VII pick and earned academic all-Big Ten honors in 2006 and 2007.
