COLUMBUS, OH – The University of Iowa men’s tennis team concluded the second day of competition Friday at the ITA Regionals. The Hawkeyes recorded three doubles victories and one singles victory on the day.
In singles competition, Tommy McGeorge continued his strong play. The junior defeated Will Kendall of Indiana 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 to advance to the main singles draw. He is undefeated in singles competition during the first two days of competition.
Seniors Christian Bierich and Greg Holm teamed up in doubles competition and won two matches Friday. The duo defeated Armengaud/Kendall of Indiana 8-3 in the round of 32 and defeated Doerner/Grgec of DePaul 8-6 in the round of 16.
In addition, juniors Patrick Dwyer and Reinoud Haal defeated Sigaud/Gama of Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne, 8-3. The pair lost in the round of 16 to Heiser/Roelofse of Illinois, 8-6.
Iowa will continue competition in Columbus tomorrow. Competition in the main singles draw will begin at 7 a.m. (CT) and doubles competition will begin at approximately 3:30 p.m. (CT).
