WEST LAFAYETTE, IN – – The women’s golf team competed in the Lady Northern Invitational today, hosted by Purdue. The Hawkeyes fired a 316 over 36 holes and are sitting in fifth place. Purdue is leading the tournament with a 593.
Tyrette Metzendorf, once again led the team by shooting a 153 (+9). Metzendorf will go in to tomorrow tied for 18th. Sophomore Laura Cilek has continued to pace the team as well. The co-captain from Iowa City finished +11 on the day (155) and is tied for 26th. Chelsea Harris and Alison Cavanaugh rounded out the four counting scores for Iowa today. Over 36 holes, Harris fired a 158 (+14) and Cavanagh shot 161 (+17). They start the final 18 holes of play tied for 41st and 53rd, respectively.
Senior Becky Quinby was right behind Cavanaugh; she shot +18 (162). Lauren Forbes traveled today to compete as an individual. This is Forbes’ first tournament away from home this year. She finished the day in 76th after shooting 169 (+25). Quinby is tied for 56th.
The tournament will conclude tomorrow with the final 18 holes of competition. Tee times start at 8 a.m. (CT).
