Trannel To Compete At World Rowing Championships

IOWA CITY – Former University of Iowa rower Michelle Trannel will represent the United States next week at the World Rowing Championships, held Aug. 23-30 in Poznan, Poland. Trannel will compete in the lightweight women’s double event.

Trannel begins competition Monday, Aug, 24 with qualifying heat competition. The A/B semifinals, along with the C Finals will be held Friday, Aug. 28. The B Final is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 29, and the A Final will be Sunday, Aug. 30.

Since graduating from the University of Iowa in 2005, Trannel has represented the United States at the U.S. National Regatta and the World Rowing Championships. She claimed two gold and two silver medals at the US. National Regatta, and has also placed fifth at the World Rowing Championships.
