IOWA CITY – University of Iowa Head Softball Coach Gayle Blevins has announced the 2010 fall schedule, which includes seven contests. All of Iowa’s fall games will be held at Pearl Field in Iowa City.
The Hawkeyes open the 2010 fall campaign Sept. 20 at 1 p.m. with a doubleheader against Illinois State. The Black and Gold will then host the All-Iowa Classic Sept. 26-27, with Iowa State, Drake and Northern Iowa traveling to Iowa City. Iowa will take on Iowa State at 2:30 p.m. and Drake at 5 p.m. Sept. 26, and Northern Iowa Sept. 27 at 3 p.m.
Iowa closes its fall schedule Oct. 11 with the Hawkeye Classic. The Hawkeyes will take on Kirkwood at 2 p.m. and Mt. Mercy at 4 p.m.
“We are thrilled to have four home dates for our fall schedule,” Blevins said. “We have a lot of new faces this year. Our fall competition opportunities will help us combine the experience of our veterans and the talent of our newcomers. We look forward to seeing our Hawkeye friends this fall at our home games.”
Iowa returns 10 letterwinners from last year’s squad that finished 42-16 overall and 13-7 in Big Ten play. The Hawkeyes have qualified for NCAA Tournament play in nine of the previous 10 seasons.
