Hawkeyes Announce Dates for Throwers Clinic

IOWA CITY, IA – The University of Iowa track program is inviting coaches and athletes, children 10 years or older, to join the Hawkeyes at the 2010 Iowa Hawkeyes Track and Field Shot Put & Discuss Clinics. Participants are encouraged to join Iowa assistant coach Scott Cappos, Illinois coach Mike Turk and Hawkeye throwers of past and present at the Iowa Football Bubble from Noon – 4 p.m. February 21st and March 7th.

The coaches and players will provide instruction for the glide shot put, spin shot put, discus and proper strength training methods. All participating athletes will learn training techniques and have the opportunity to throw at each event. Participants are encouraged to attend both sessions to learn the coaching styles of Cappos and Turk. Cappos has trained 20 Big Ten Champions while Turk has trained several all-Americans.
