Hawkeyes Announce Banquet Award Winners

IOWA CITY, IA – University of Iowa Head Men’s Track Coach Larry Wieczorek announced the 2008-09 award winners from the annual awards banquet held this week. Twelve Hawkeyes shared 13 awards, including Most Valuable Competitor, Paul Chaney. The St. Louis, MO, set personal bests in the 100- and 200-meters at the NCAA Regionals and anchored Iowa’s record-breaking 800-meter relay team at the 2009 Drake Relays.

Senior Dan Rolling earned the teammate award and was named Most Inspirational Competitor. Freshman Jeff Thode took home the Deacon Jones Outstanding Cross Country Runner award after leading Iowa in five of the team’s six races and earning Midwest all-region honors.
