IOWA CITY, IA – – The Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Facility, home of the Iowa men’s and women’s tennis teams, has received the Iowa Tennis Association Facility of the Year Award. In addition, it also received the USTA Missouri Valley Facility of the Year Award. The Missouri Valley is comprised of the states of Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska and Iowa.
“This award reflects outstanding efforts by our Athletic Department and the Department of Recreational Services as well as the architectural and design teams,” said men’s Head Coach Steve Houghton. “The facility has already greatly enhanced our men’s and women’s programs and has provided a great venue for the university and local tennis community.”
Women’s Head Coach Katie Dougherty and the Hawkeyes will open the 2010 spring schedule at the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Facility Jan. 24. Dougherty will be making her head coaching debut at 11 a.m. when the Hawkeyes entertain Notre Dame.
