Iowa Improves Nine Strokes in Round Three

MADISON, WI – The University of Iowa women’s golf team improved nine strokes in its third round of the 2010 Big Ten Women’s Golf Championships. The Hawkeyes (931, +67) finished day two in 11th place. The defending champion, Purdue (869, +1), is currently in the lead after 54 holes.

Sophomore Chelsea Harris (234,+18) led Iowa through round three, shooting a team tournament-best 73. Harris has improved every round.

Both junior Lauren Forbes (231, +15) and freshman Kristi Cardwell (241, +25) carded 77. Forbes is currently tied for 38th, the highest of any Hawkeye. Freshman Gigi DiGrazia (240, +24)has shaved two strokes off each round of the tournament, going from an 82 to a 78 today.

Iowa will be back to the tee at 9 a.m. (CT) tomorrow for the start of the fourth and final round of the 2010 Big Ten Championships.
