UNI Invite Day 2 Brackets in PDF Format
WATERLOO, Iowa — The University of Iowa women’s tennis team resumed play at the UNI Invite Saturday. The Hawkeyes encountered poor weather for the second straight day, forcing the tournament to be moved indoors to the Black Hawk Tennis Club. The team ended the second day of competition with a 3-2 record in doubles and a 5-2 record in singles.
In doubles, Junior Sonja Molnar and senior Lynne Poggensee-Wei posted wins in both of their matches, downing Missouri’s Mera/Stuhlmann 8-3 and Ritchie/Weber of Missouri 9-8 (4). The victories led to Molnar and Poggensee-Wei being named champions of the Platinum Flight bracket. Senior Alexis Dorr and junior Cassandra Escobar beat Gow/Schoen of Wisconsin-Milwaukee 8-0 before falling to Drake’s Krizman/Aguilera 8-4 in the Gold Flight semifinals. Junior Ally Majercik, playing with Northern Iowa’s Stefannia Sampaio, dropped an 8-1 decision to Kunzelmann/Moore of Northern Iowa.
