Tulsa, Oklahoma — The University of Iowa men’s tennis team competed at the D’Novo ITA All-American Tennis Championships in Iowa’s second tournament of the fall season.
The Hawkeyes faced stiff competition in the single-elimination tournament. Junior Marc Bruche won the only singles match for Iowa, defeating Sven Poslusny of Utah State 6-2, 6-2 in the first round of prequalifying.
Bruche, after reaching the semifinals in the main draw of Iowa’s season opener at the Purdue Fall Invitational, was knocked off in the second round by Chris Mengle of Duke. Mengel beat Bruche 6-1, 6-4 after reaching the second round with a bye.
Bruche has a 4-2 singles record at the No. 1 singles position for Iowa.
Nikita Zotov, Will Vasos, and Austen Kauss were also in action for the Hawkeyes Iowa will be in action next on October 15th at the Northwestern Invitational.
