THIS WEEK
Iowa will head to Chicago, Ill. to play in the Lady Northern Invitational Oct. 11-12. The 54-hole tournament will be hosted by Northwestern University at Lake Shore Country Club. A shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. (CT) Monday will kick-off the tournament. Live scoring will be available at Golfstat.com.
THE COMPETITION
Twelve teams will compete against the Hawkeyes; Illinois, Indiana, Iowa State, Michigan, Minnesota, Northwestern, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue, Texas Tech and Wisconsin. Purdue is the defending champion.
HAWKEYE LINE-UP
Iowa will take the scores of Kristi Cardwell, Laura Cilek, Brianna Coopman, Lauren Forbes and Chelsea Harris. Woojay Choi will compete as an individual.
IOWA TAKES THIRD AT BADGER INVITATIONAL
The Hawkeyes finished third at the Badger Invitational Sept. 26-27. Iowa finished the tournament with an 894 team score after posting rounds of 299-297-298. The 894 team total is the fourth best 54-hole score recorded in school history and marks just the fifth 54-hole total under 900. No Iowa team had previously recorded three consecutive sub-300 rounds in a 54-hole event. Junior Chelsea Harris tied the second-best score in school history for 36-holes by posting a 73-70 in the second and third rounds. Every member of the Black and Gold that competed recorded a season-low score for a single round. Senior Laura Cilek and Harris led the Hawkeyes, posting three round scores of 221 (+5). Cilek (70-77-74) and Harris (78-73-70) tied for seventh. Iowa previously won their own Hawkeye Invitational.
HEAD COACH Kelly Crawford
Head Coach Kelly Crawford has been in charge of the women’s golf program for five years. The Sacramento State alum has six letterwinners returning from the 2009-10 season. She leads the Hawkeyes into their fourth tournament of the season.

“The team has a lot of confidence going into the Lady Northern. We are practicing well and having a lot of fun together. Obviously, coming off probably our best start in school history is adding to our confidence level. I am really excited to see how we match up this year with the other Big Ten teams. If we continue to play as we have been I definitely see us in the top half of the field.”
