Grimm Named ESPN The Magazine’s First Team Academic All-District

Nov. 3, 2010

IOWA CITY, Iowa – University of Iowa women’s soccer sophomore Jade Grimm has been named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic all-District first team. To be eligible for the honor, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at her current institution. Nominated student-athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of their team’s competitions, have completed one full calendar year at his or her current institution and have reached sophomore athletic eligibility.

The Cedar Rapids, Iowa native has started in every game of her career at Iowa (39/39) and has been a dominating force in Iowa’s offensive efforts during her minutes on the field. This season, the midfielder leads Iowa in assists (4) and points (12). Grimm has scored four goals for the Hawkeyes this season, which is second most on the team.

As an Integrative Physiology major, Grimm has maintained a 3.79 grade-point average and been a member on the Presidential Committee on Athletics. Grimm has also been named to the Dean’s List twice.

Grimm will now be on the national ballot for academic all-America consideration, which will be announced later this month.
