South Bend, Ind. – The University of Iowa men’s track and field team sent competitors to the Meyo Invite held on the campus of Notre Dame Saturday. Iowa’s runners competed well at the event which features over 1,000 elite student-athletes from around the country.

Team captain Mark Battista competed in the 3,000-meter run. Battista’s time of 8:48.32 is a season best, his collegiate best was set at the Big Ten Championship’s last season when he ran the race in 8:25.82.

Jeff Thode placed fifth in the Meyo Mile race with a season best time of 4:03.66, just missing his personal record time of 4:03.07. James Paul also competed in the mile race finishing 16th in the event after crossing the finish line in 4:16.47.

Thode, Battista and Paul will be back in action along with the rest of the Hawkeyes next weekend at the Cyclone Classic in Ames.
