Hawkeyes Dueled Indiana and Ohio State

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Iowa women’s rowing team dueled Indiana and ninth ranked Ohio State Saturday in Columbus, Ohio on the Scioto River. The Hawkeyes faced Indiana in the morning session, falling 37-24 and came in behind Ohio State 45-24 in the afternoon session.

Iowa raced two boats in the novice 8’s, varsity 4’s and varsity 8’s at the morning and afternoon sessions. The Hawkeyes also raced Louisville, Bucknell and Rhode Island but the races were not scored as duals.

The Hawkeyes captured a first place finish in the 1V4, beating Indiana 7:39.9-to-7:52.7. The 1V8 crew closed out the morning session with a time of 6:52.2 to come in second behind Indiana’s boat (6:48.6).

Following the morning session, the Hawkeyes posted a time of 7:04.0 in the 1V8 during the afternoon session against Ohio State. Iowa’s 2V8 boat earned a time of 7:11.3.

Iowa returns to action April 30 when it travels to Ithaca, N.Y. to compete in the East Coast Race, which marks the last race before the Big Ten Championships May 15 in Indianapolis.
