DAHLONEGA, Ga. — University of Iowa junior Kristi Cardwell and senior Chelsea Harris took fourth place in the 2011 Hooters Women’s Collegiate Team Championship. The Hawkeye tandem finished the three-round tournament with a nine-under-par 279 that included a final round 138 (-6), the lowest aggregate score among the 58 team field. Cardwell and Harris ended three strokes behind tournament champions Lindsey Solberg and Caroline Powers of Michigan State.
Cardwell and Harris fired a 74 (+2) during the tournament’s alternate shot first round before carding a best-ball 67 (-5) during round two at the par-72, 6,995-yard Achasta By Reynolds.
Cardwell and Harris tied for the team-low season average (77.1) during the 2010-11 season. The pair will rejoin the rest of the women’s golf team to open the 2011 fall season in September.
