Rain Halts Day 2 of ITA All-American Championships

Oct. 5, 2011

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – – University of Iowa senior Sonja Molnar did not play at the ITA All-American Championships on Wednesday due to rain. Rain also forced the Qualifying Consolation Draw to be cancelled. Molnar will play her final match of the tournament at UCLA on Tuesday at noon (CT). Molnar’s opponent has not been announced.

Molnar, ranked No. 65 in the ITA preseason poll, opened tournament play on Tuesday. The Guelph, Ontario, native posted a 1-1 record. She fell to UCLA’s McCall Jones, 6-3, 6-2, in the first round of the Qualifying Draw before beating Rachael White of Illinois, 6-3, 7-5, in the Qualifying Consolation Draw’s opening round. Molnar is 5-1 overall this season.
