Schipper earns HOF nod

Nov. 17, 2011

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Former University of Iowa volleyball player Megan Schipper was inducted into the Iowa high school volleyball Hall of Fame at the 2011 State Tournament last weekend.

Schipper was the Iowa Class 2A Player of the Year while competing for Aplington-Parkersburg in 2005. She was a two-time Elite and first team all-state selection and led A-P to the 2005 state championships. She was a Prep Volleyball All-America nominee before joining the Hawkeyes in 2006.

Schipper was a four-year letterwinner for the Hawkeyes from 2006-09. She is one of 16 players in program history to record more than 1,000 career kills. She totaled 300-plus kills in three consecutive seasons and her 1,169 career kills rank 11th in program history. She was named to six all-tournament teams and twice earned Academic All-Big Ten honors.

Hinton alum Jessica Vander Looi and Tripoli native Alicia Johnson were also members of the 2011 Hall of Fame class.
