IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa senior diver Veronica Rydze will compete at the USA Diving Winter National Championships and World Cup Trials on Dec. 15-22 at the University of Tennessee’s Allan Jones Aquatic Center.
The prelimary rounds will be held Dec. 15-16, while the quarterfinal, semifinal and final rounds will take place on Dec. 17-22.
America’s top divers will be competing for 10 national titles as well as the chance to represent the United States in several upcoming international competitions, including the FINA Diving World Cup in London, the final opportunity for the U.S. to qualify for the 2012 Olympic Games. The Winter Nationals also will serve as the last opportunity for divers to qualify for the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team Trials for diving.
National titles will be awarded for both men and women on 1-meter and 3-meter springboard and 10-meter platform, as well as synchronized 3-meter and synchronized 10-meter.
Rydze will compete in the 3-meter springboard preliminaries on Thursday beginning at 9 a.m. (CT). She will also compete in the 1-meter springboard and in the 3-meter synchro with former Hawkeye Deidre Freeman.
