FAYETTEVILLE, Ark – The University of Iowa track and field teams finalized competition at the Razorback Invitational Saturday. The men’s team rallied behind three athletes that earned a spot among Iowa’s top-ten performers list.
Senior Dan Davis and freshman Torrey Campbell both recorded personal bests in the 60-meter hurdles. Davis finished fifth with a time of 8.08. That time ranks fifth all-time at Iowa. Campbell’s time of 8.11 earned him a sixth place finish and a seventh place rank in Iowa’s all-time top ten performers list.
Nathan Prom ran to a second place finish in the 800 meters. The sophomore ran a personal best time of 1:51.72. That time ranks ninth all-time at Iowa. Ryan Weir also had a solid day in the 800 meters. The junior ran a time of 1:52.25 to finish fifth. Freshmen Kaleb Van Cleave tied a personal best time of 49.34 in the 400 meters.
Senior all-American captains Troy Doris and Erik Sowinski each recorded first place finishes. Doris captured the triple jump title after reaching the 53-5 (16.28 m) mark. Sowinski ran a time of 1:48.58 for a first place finish in the 800-meter invite.
The men’s 1,600-meter relay team of senior Patrick Richards, junior Justin Austin, freshmen Kaleb Van Cleave, and senior Erik Sowinski finished fourth with a time of 3:11.20.
Carisa Leacock started off the day for the Hawkeye women. The sophomore reached the 40-0 (12.19m) mark to finish eighth in the triple jump.
The women’s 1,600-meter relay team of senior Kelsey Mims, sophomore Kelsey Quinn, junior Hannah Simonson, and senior Nicole Erickson came in fifth place with a time of 3:44.96.
The Hawkeyes will return to action Feb. 3-4 sending athletes to both the New Balance Invite in New York City and the Meyo Invite in South Bend, Ind.
