3 Hawkeyes Invited to National Team Camps

June 7, 2012

IOWA CITY, Iowa — Three University of Iowa women’s rowers have been invited to national team camps this summer. Annemarie Bernhard is currently participating in the Dutch National Team tryout camp, while Brianna Achs and Katy Kroll will spend time this summer at USRowing camps.

Bernhard returned to the Netherlands this summer and has already been selected as a spare for the Women’s 8+ at the U-23 World Championships. She is also currently training in the pair.

Kroll was selected to the 2012 USRowing Women’s U23 Selection Camp. The camp will select the Open Women’s 8+ and 4x to compete at the 2012 FISA U23 World Championships, scheduled for July 11-15 in Trakai, Lithuania. If performance warrants, the camp also plans to select Open Women’s 2-, 4- and 2x to compete at the U23 Trials June 24-27 at Mercer Lake, NJ.

Achs was one of 24 collegiate rowers chosen for the 2012 USRowing Women’s Freshman Camp in Seattle. Hosted by the University of Washington, the camp is geared towards athletes with elite level potential and aspirations, but only have one or two years of rowing experience. The goal of the camp is to expose athletes to the U.S. National Team experience.

USRowing is recognized by the United States Olympic Committee as the governing body for the sport of rowing in the United States.
