TOLEDO, Ohio – The University of Iowa women’s cross country team took seventh place (147 points) at the Toledo Bubble Buster on Friday. The 4,000-meter event was held at Ottawa Park in Toledo, Ohio.

Sophomore Kayla Beattie paced the Hawkeyes. Beattie recorded a 17th place finish with a time of 13:41. Junior Megan Ranegar and graduate student Mareike Schrulle finished 21st and 22nd, respectively. Ranegar clocked a time of 13:45, while Schrulle crossed the line in 13:47. Senior Nicole Benson (27th; 13:52) and freshman Lisa Gordon (69th; 14:17) rounded out the scoring for the Hawkeyes.

“This was a solid step forward against six nationally ranked teams,” said head women’s cross country coach Layne Anderson. “It’s a clear indicator that this group has the potential to enjoy a successful year.”

The Hawkeye women will return to action Oct. 12 at the Wisconsin Adidas Invitational.
