IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa women’s tennis players Shelby Talcott and Ruth Seaborne begin competition at the ITA All-American Championships on Saturday. The duo, ranked No. 58 in the ITA preseason doubles poll, is one of the 32 teams to earn a berth in the pre-qualifying tournament.
Talcott and Seaborne must win three matches to advance to the qualifying rounds, which take place Oct. 2-3. The qualifying rounds will then be narrowed to main draw matches, taking place Oct. 4-7.
Seaborne was also selected as one of 64 qualifying singles competitors. She opened the fall season at the Wolverine Invitational with a 2-1 record that included a win over No. 49 Alexandra Cercone of Florida.
Prequalifying matches will take place at the Los Angeles Tennis Center and the Sycamore Tennis Courts on the campus of UCLA. Qualifying and main draws will be played at Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif.
All-American Championship draws will be released Friday, Sept. 28. Tournament brackets and live scoring will be available at www.itatennis.com.
